Project Manager

About GrowSF

GrowSF is a lean data-driven policy & politics org with a single goal: fix the laws holding San Francisco back. We focus on winning local elections, giving voters clear and honest information, doing policy research, and passing (or repealing!) laws.

We're growing, and we're looking for a contract Project Manager to help our team stay on track with digital ad campaigns, polling, talent, and other key operations in 2026. This is a unique opportunity to join a digital-first advocacy organization in San Francisco during one of the most important election years in recent history.

About the Role

We're a team of four. You'll collaborate closely with our Co-Founders, our Software Engineer, and Head of Talent. As our Project Manager, you'll ensure we are executing our most important work effectively.

Specifically, you will:

  • Own project management across GrowSF's core initiatives: you'll manage multiple parallel bodies of work across policy, advocacy, polling, campaigns, partnerships, talent, and more, ensuring each project is clearly scoped, sequenced, staffed, and moving forward.
  • Design and maintain GrowSF's project management system: you'll continuously improve our Asana workflows, project templates, timelines, and dashboards so we have clear visibility into our priorities & progress.
  • Translate strategy into executable plans: work with our Founders to break high-level goals into concrete deliverables, milestones, owners, and deadlines - and keep the team aligned on what matters most, especially as priorities shift.
  • Drive execution and accountability: run project check-ins, track follow-through, surface blockers early, and help teams resolve issues early.
  • Coordinate across functions and stakeholders: serve as the connective tissue between our internal team members and external partners to ensure work is sequenced correctly, dependencies are managed, and work gets done.
  • Improve operational rigor over time: identify where processes are breaking down and propose pragmatic improvements that increase speed, clarity, and quality.

You must:

  • Have experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, timelines, and moving parts.
  • Be highly organized and systems-oriented, with demonstrated experience using tools like Asana (or similar) to manage work at scale.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and calmly.
  • Have a strong interest in San Francisco and local government.
  • Have high agency - when something is unclear or stuck, you proactively figure out a path forward.
  • Be willing to come into the office 3 days per week.
  • Be generally aligned with GrowSF's mission (we do not expect perfect ideological alignment).

You should:

  • Be comfortable working solo.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enjoy working with a small team, and pitch in on other projects when needed.
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity and willing to ask questions, test assumptions, and work well self-directed, without lots of structure and direction.

Bonus:

  • Have experience working on (successful!) campaigns or complex civic projects in San Francisco.

To Apply

Send a resume, examples of projects you've worked on, and a brief statement about why our mission excites you, to careers@growsf.org.
