Education

YesNo
Should all students in 8th grade have access to algebra, if they want it?X
Should all students in 7th grade have access to algebra, if they want it?X
Should all high school students have access to AP courses?X
Should the Party adopt or support policies that promote making algebra available to 8th graders?X
Did you support or oppose the recall of Board of Education members Collins, López, and Moliga? If you supported or opposed a subset, please specify below.Support

Explain why you did or did not support the recall of each member:

I supported the recall of The School Board because they had lost focus of why they were elected into their roles, education and instead worried more about politics, school names and failed to manage a well funded educational system. I saw steps to weaken not strengthen the education system, lowering of standards and a defeatest attitude that no longer believed in the achievement of our children. The recall sent a message not only to our School Board but to all elected officials, accountability is back.

If you want to explain any positions above, please feel free:

I believe public education plays a pivotal role for families and their children across San Francisco. A product of public schools myself, I come from a long line of public educators. Public Education is key to our future.

A strong public education system is vital for our city and children to succeed. We should be investing in the lives of our children, believing in our children and providing every opportunity for the success of our children. Yes to algebra, yes to AP classes and yes to a focuse on creating a strong public education system, it's the way forward for our children.

Business

Should San Francisco…YesNo
Reduce the time to obtain all permits to open a new business to no more than 3 months?X
Reduce the cost of obtaining permits to open a new business?X
Reduce the number of activities which must obtain permits, and expand the number of by-right activities?X
Increase the number of available ABC permits?X
Increase the number of available recreational marijuana permits?
Try to attract businesses of all sizes to the City?X

If you want to explain any positions above, please feel free:

San Franciscos' small businesses are the bedrock of our communities and our city atlarge. I have worked with small businesses throughout our community and have seen first hand the dysfunction of our permitting process and the arcane structure that only get in the way of progress and growth.

Regarding the number of marijuana permits, I do not know enough about the number of permits currently available, therefore I do not have a stand. I do however believe that support for businesses should be based on sound policies and not personal biasis. If after reveiw, I found a lack of adequate permitting of such businesses, I would expect corrections.

Public Safety

YesNo
Do you think that property crime in San Francisco is too high?X
Do you support policies commonly referred to as "defund the police"?X
Should the Party adopt or support policies that promote a fully-funded and fully-staffed police department?X
Should police funding be from the general fund, rather than via special taxes and set-asides?X
Did you support the recall of District Attorney Chesa Boudin?X

Please explain why you did or did not support the recall of DA Chesa Boudin:

I supported the recall of Chesa Boudin because he was running the District Arrorney's office with a political perspective that did not represent the needs, desires or welfare of San Francisco citizens. During his reign, crime grew oput of control and so did the number of victims of crime. Too often Chesa was more focused on the criminal with near disregard for the victims of such crimes. He was just bad for San Francisco.

If you want to explain any positions above, please feel free:

As a long time community organizer and President of our Neighborhood Association, I work closely with our District Supervisor and Park Station Captain to address increased crime and work on solutions for safer streets. I know first hand the violence that has grown throughout San Francisco. Neighbors and business owners are experiencing aggressive criminals on our streets, near constant public and private property crime and a surege in business roberries. The growing safety concerns are keeping neighbors home and impacting business viability in our communities.

Housing

YesNo
Is it too difficult to build market rate housing in San Francisco?X
Is it too difficult to build subsidized housing in San Francisco?X
Should the Party adopt or support policies that make it easier, faster, and/or cheaper to build market rate housing in San Francisco?X
Should the Party adopt or support policies that make it easier, faster, and/or cheaper to build subsidized housing in San Francisco?X
Should the Party adopt or support policies that would loosen the existing limits on height, density, and bulk for residential buildings? (ie taller, denser, and fewer/reduced setbacks)X
Should the Party adopt or support policies that would abolish the existing limits on height, density, and bulk for residential buildings?X

If you want to explain any positions above, please feel free:

As President of our Neighborhood Associtation, I made it a point to engage and have a voice while the city developed the Housing Element and subsequent Rezoning efforts underway now. We continue to conduct community meetings, workshops and collaborate with SF Planning and our District Supervisor.

Our early engagement with SF Planning has helped create an environment of trust and collaboration where neighbors feel heard and SF Planning feels understood; all the while creating a supportive environment with the city's rezoning efforts. Responsible rezoning that focuses on maximizing development along our commercial corridors while permitting limited raised heights within communities.

Drugs

YesNo
Should San Francisco arrest and prosecute fentanyl dealers?X
Should the Party adopt or support policies that formally request help from the State and Federal governments to bolster our police force (both the officers and the investigators)?X
Should the Party adopt or support policies promoting "safe consumption" sites without altering existing laws and lax enforcement around open-air usage?X
Should the Party adopt or support policies promoting "safe consumption" sites only if paired with zero-tolerance for open-air usage? (ie consuming drugs like fentanyl on the street would be illegal; and users would be taken to a recovery site until they are sober)X

If you want to explain any positions above, please feel free:

The reason I would like to see consumption sites with recovery plans developed is because we are dealing with an entirely different drug addition problem than in the past. Fentanyl and the new Meth P2P are way more addictive, destroy the brain rapidly and are huge contributors to the mental health crisis we face on our streets today.

Compassion to me requires programs in place to assist our community get the mental anbd addiction help they need, not simply the OK to use drugs.

Mental Health

YesNo
Should San Francisco place people who are experiencing mental health crises on the streets into involuntary mental health holds at psychiatric facilities?YES
Should the Party adopt or support policies that facilitate the construction and operation of mental health facilities, and permit those facilities to treat patients involuntarily if they are deemed to be unable to care for themselves (as determined by a panel of psychiatric professionals)?YES

If you want to explain any positions above, please feel free:

It is not compassionate to leave the most vulnerable amongst us to fend for themselves on the streets. Too often those operating with severe mental health issues are victims of rape, assault, robbery and homoscide. I am hopeful that those of us that live in San Francisco, care enough to get those in need the mental health care and facilities they need.

Public Transit

YesNo
Should SFMTA and BART conduct fare enforcement operations and prosecute fare evaders?YES
Should the Party adopt or support policies requiring SFMTA and BART to enforce fare payment?YES
Recent state funding requires Muni and BART to enforce fare payments in order to receive funding; do you agree with this requirement?YES

If you want to explain any positions above, please feel free:

Tax payers supported funding of SFMTA and BART with the understanding that rider fares would be used to support the operations of our transite system.

General questions

What needs to change with the Party?

We need to work together and address the growing needs of our city. To assure we are able to recruit and attract the best candidates possible, it's time to collaborate, coordinate and build the city we all love.

As a community organizer that has experienced success building bridges, I know this can be done. It often seems we have the same goals but have varian views on how best to meet those goals; the goals remain the same. Safety, Housing, Healthcare.

What are the top three issues facing San Francisco, and what would you like to see change?

Safety, We need to assure our Peace Officers are fully staffed and supported. Housing: We need to push SF Planning and our elected officials to develop a rezoning plan that allows for more housing; affordable, below market and employee housing for teachers, police, firemen…

Business Development: We need a full overhaul of our current permit system that hampers both small and large business development. A commission of Business Development set to attract investment is the right way to move on this.

Tell us one thing you think needs to change in SF that the average voter wouldn't know about.

Our city government doesn't have much control over the 160+ commissions set up nor is there much accountability of those commissions. We should conduct real reviews, set real success metrics and review all the funding being spent on failed projects/commissions.
