Education

| Should all students in 8th grade have access to algebra, if they want it? | x | |

| Should all high school students have access to AP courses? | x | |

| Did you support or oppose the recall of Board of Education members Collins, López, and Moliga? If you supported or opposed a subset, please specify below. | x |
Explain why you did or did not support the recall of each member:
I supported recalling each member of the School Board because during a once in a generation crisis (COVID) they refused to put ideology in the back seat and focus on the best outcomes for the School District's students and staff. In any other year this might have been an issue that could have waited until the next election, however in this extraordinary moment in time it necessitated immediate action which is why I supported the recall.

If you want to explain any positions above, please feel free:
At the request of both the recreational cannabis industry and the Brownie Mary Democratic Club, as well as leaders in the Asian American community, I support a moratorium on new cannabis permits. Given the nascent state of the industry, oversaturated market, and uncertain regulatory and financing environment I believe we are best served stabilizing the market for existing permit holders and small businesses to ensure they are able to survive and thrive.
Public Safety
| Yes | No | |
|---|---|---|
| Do you think that property crime in San Francisco is too high? | x | |
| Do you support policies commonly referred to as "defund the police"? | x | |

| Should police funding be from the general fund, rather than via special taxes and set-asides? | x | |
| Did you support the recall of District Attorney Chesa Boudin? | x |
Please explain why you did or did not support the recall of DA Chesa Boudin:
I supported recalling Chesa Boudin because during a once in a generation crisis (COVID) he refused to put ideology in the back seat and focus on the best outcomes for our City's safety. In any other year this might have been an issue that could have waited until the next election, however in this extraordinary moment in time it necessitated immediate action which is why I supported the recall.

| Should the Party adopt or support policies promoting "safe consumption" sites without altering existing laws and lax enforcement around open-air usage? | x | |
| Should the Party adopt or support policies promoting "safe consumption" sites only if paired with zero-tolerance for open-air usage? (ie consuming drugs like fentanyl on the street would be illegal; and users would be taken to a recovery site until they are sober) | x |
If you want to explain any positions above, please feel free:
If we are to have safe consumption sites they should not be in residential areas and they should not be in areas that only reinforce the cycle of addiction. I believe in an all-of-the-above approach to addressing addiction, if safe injection sites are to be a part of our approach it must be done thoughtfully.

General questions
What needs to change with the Party?
We need to change the focus of the party from petty internal squabbling and get back to the basics of party building, fundraising, organizing, and voter registration. The fact that there remains no permanent Party office which Democrats can organize out of, in the progressive soul of the country, is an embarrassment. We must refocus the party on the issues that matter most to all San Francisco voters.
What are the top three issues facing San Francisco, and what would you like to see change?
Public Safety: We must support efforts to get to a fully staffed, accountable, and responsive SFPD.
Housing: We must support efforts to expedite the construction of affordable and market rate housing to alleviate our housing cost crisis.
Education: We must refocus our School Baord form an ideological body to an outcome-based body. The use of the School Board as a political launching pad has had a direct negative impact on SFUSD.
Tell us one thing you think needs to change in SF that the average voter wouldn't know about.
Most San Franciscans don't know how pervasive the pay-to-play system is at City Hall. As a result of a system that has been broken on purpose, only those with the money to hire permit expediters can effectively navigate government. In the words of Phalka, "Paperwork favors the powerful". So much of the status quo has been ingrained in those at City Hall, we need new voices to call this out as not being normal.
