50,000 San Franciscans Join “No Kings” Protest
Published June 16, 2025

About 50,000 San Franciscans marched from Dolores Park to City Hall on Saturday for the nationwide “No Kings” protest, voicing opposition to President Trump. The protest was peaceful and full of American flags.
The Facts
Saturday’s "No Kings" demonstration attracted roughly 50,000 participants, according to the Standard. Protesters gathered in Dolores Park around 11:30am on Saturday and they marched to City Hall while waving American flags, and chanting “Immigrants stay; Trump must go,” among other slogans.
The Context
An estimated 5 million people across the country participated in an estimated 2,000 "No Kings" protests on Saturday. The San Francisco march was one of the largest, though Philadelphia "saw more than 100,000" and Chicago had 75,000 according to Axios. Just one city, Los Angeles, reported significant unrest.
The peaceful protests were a welcome change from the violent rallies last weekend which led to around 150 arrests. And protesters were largely carrying American flags, rather than flags from other countries like prior protests.
The GrowSF Take
A huge, peaceful protest of this size is a testament to the power of civic engagement in San Francisco. We were thrilled to see so many American flags and support for democracy and fundamental rights like free speech and assembly.
