Supervisor, District 4
Vote Joel EngardioJoel Engardio knows our West side families need to feel safe and their kids deserve a great education. That’s why Joel was a leader in both the School Board recall and the Chesa Boudin recall. Joel is the only candidate in the District 4 Supervisor race who supported both recalls.
Joel's opponent, Gordon Mar, is out of touch with his district. Gordon Mar opposed the School Board recall and the Chesa Boudin recall. But his district voted overwhelmingly in support of the recalls: 84%, 82%, and 79% to recall School Board commissioners Alison Collins, Gabriela López (note: she's running again!, and Faauuga Moliga, respectively. And 65% of the Sunset voted in favor of the Chesa Boudin recall. Gordon Mar doesn't understand what his constituents want and he doesn't align with their values.
Joel Engardio has been a community leader in San Francisco for years. As an award-winning journalist with a column in the SF Examiner, Engardio has been holding City Hall accountable. Joel leads Stop Crime SF, a grassroots group that consistently advocates for a safe city for everyone. As Supervisor, Joel will advocate for parents, small businesses, and aspiring homeowners, because kids should be able to get a quality public school education; entrepreneurs should be able to open a busines without roadblocks from City Hall; and families should feel safe and be able to afford to live here.
San Francisco's budget is now a whopping $13 billion, but the Sunset is still left out in the cold when it comes to better Muni service and street & sidewalk cleaning. In Engardio's own words:
We need to change how money is spent in San Francisco. City Hall must stop treating residents like an ATM and focus on getting basic services right. We must audit every city-run program and only pay for what works.
The Sunset deserves a representative who is more interested in helping the community than their own political career.
Engardio has also pledged he will support more public magnet schools in language, arts, and sciences. And he supports advanced classes for high-performing students and a school assignment system that would let kids walk to a neighborhood school instead of having to be shuttled across town.
In short:
- Engardio supports teaching algebra in middle school, Mar opposes it
- Engardio supports merit-based admissions at Lowell High School, Mar opposes it
- Engardio supports a [no-nonsense approach to public safety])https://engardio.com/crime), Mar doesn't
- Engardio ran a "Stop Asian Hate" campaign through his group, Stop Crime SF, while Mar stood with Chesa Boudin
- Engardio helped collect tens of thousands of signatures to recall the School Board, Mar opposed the School Board recall
Vote for Joel Engardio to bring a focus on public safety, education, and fiscal responsibility to City Hall.
