Supervisor, District 6
Vote Matt DorseyMatt Dorsey is a strong voice for public safety, personal responsibility, and for holding drug dealers accountable. Since taking office earlier this year, Dorsey has put forward sweeping new legislation to clean up the district and to arrest the dealers of deadly drugs.
Dorsey is the only candidate in the District 6 race who supported both the School Board and Chesa Boudin recalls.
Dorsey's main opponent, Honey Mahogany, seeks to turn her time as Matt Haney's legislative aide into a stint as Supervisor. While we admire Mahogany for many reasons, we believe she's out of step with the neighborhood. Honey Mahogany opposed both the School Board recall and the Chesa Boudin recall, but the neighborhood voted strongly in favor: 72%, 68%, and 65% of voters recalled School Board commissioners Alison Collins, Gabriela López, and Faauga Moliga, and 58% voted to recall Chesa Boudin.
Mahogany is aligned with GrowSF on some issues, but we find her endorsement and vote history troubling. Not only has Mahogany endorsed Aaron Peskin and Dean Preston (the two Supervisors that fight growth the most), but when it came to a recent important vote she failed us: unlike housing champion Scott Wiener, Mahogany did not vote against Prop E as a member of the Democratic County Central Committee, which determines the official position of the Democratic Party. Prop E is an anti-housing ballot measure put forward by the Board of Supervisors. We think this shows that Honey Mahogany will support more of the same dysfunction in City Hall.
Matt Dorsey, on the other hand, has made clear to voters that his top priorities as public safety, clean streets, and building more housing. Dorsey has been endorsed by Scott Wiener, the region's most pro-housing elected official. As an addict in recovery, Dorsey brings his real-world experience to bear on helping people escape the prison of addiction. As Supervisor, he has introduced legislation to get drug addicts the help they need and has literally cleaned up streets:
Dorsey has also been a consistent pro-housing voice, supports our Affordable Homes Now ballot measure (Prop D), and earned the endorsement of housing champion Scott Wiener and SF YIMBY.
[W]e have to take responsibility for the shared burden of meeting the crisis of affordable housing. We need to build more housing at all income levels in every San Francisco neighborhood.
We think Supervisor Dorsey has done great work in the few months he's held office, and we're excited to see him do more over the next four years. Vote Matt Dorsey for a Supervisor that will clean up the neighborhood, build more housing, and prioritize public safety.
